Josh Myers a shift supervisor with Davidson County 9-1-1 recently attended the APCO/NENA State Conference in Sunset Beach NC to find out he had been chosen as the States 9-1-1 Line Supervisor of the Year. Josh was nominated by his agency and was chosen by a State awards committee from a list of other nominee’s across the state. Donna Estes, President of NC APCO (Association of Public Safety Communications Officials) presented the award at the closing Banquet Wednesday September 21st.   Josh started with Davidson County 9-1-1 as a part time employee in June of 2006, He became a fulltime telecommunicator in January of 2007. In October of 2009 he was promoted to Communications Shift Supervisor.

Josh’s nomination read as follows:

Josh Myers is in charge of making his shift run smoothly and efficient. He is a working supervisor taking on the role of a telecommunicator with added responsibilities of watching out for the people he serves. He guides his team with a steady hand but yet being very fair, which is sometimes hard to accomplish. He is very laid back, calm, and has a good humor about himself. He has to be peace maker and advisor to his co-workers. He never requires something of his team in which he will not do himself. He uses a very logical approach to solving problems.

Josh is also a Volunteer Fireman on his time off which shows he is dedicated to helping people. He was Telecommunicator of the Year in 2009 and Shift Supervisor of the Year in both 2010 and 2011. This shows that whatever role he is in, he excels. He has been employed since June of 2006.

In order to be nominated on the State Level Josh was chosen by his peers at the Davidson County 9-1-1 center for Shift Supervisor of the year. At the same time the employees of the center chose Courtney Hepler, and Jamison Sears as Telecommunicators of the year. All show exemplary skills in their field.

The staff of the 9-1-1 center as well as myself are very proud of Josh and his accomplishments.   He is very deserving of the award and Davidson County is fortunate to have him leading a great group of Telecommunicators.
