The Davidson County Teaching Scholarship program was proposed by Commissioner Larry Potts in April, 1999, and approved by the Board of Commissioners in January, 2000.  The program was created as a tool to encourage graduates of public and private schools in Davidson County to enter the teaching profession and return to Davidson County to teach.

The Teaching Scholarship Program is jointly funded by donations and local revenues.  Up to fifteen scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each may be awarded each calendar year.

Teaching Scholarship applications are accepted twice a year--September 1st through November 15th and January 1st through March 15th.  Applications are reviewed by a nine member Scholarship Review Committee. whose members serve staggered  three year terms.

If you have any questions, please contact Anne Burkhart, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners, at (336) 242-2200, or submit your questions on-line by using the "Contact Us" component below.
