Grant Programs

The North Carolina Commission on Workforce Development, Division of Workforce Development and DavidsonWorks administer the Incumbent Workforce Development Program. This program provides funding to established North Carolina businesses to provide educational and skills training for current workers. It is designed to benefit businesses by enhancing the skills of the employee, avoiding layoffs, increasing employee productivity and expanding the potential for company growth.

We assist you in determining the training needs, timelines (not to exceed 12 months), training plan and provide technical assistance with the application process.  This is a great opportunity for businesses with inspiring ideas for growing their existing business and remaining competitive in a global economy.

The largest item on a company’s balance sheet is worker salaries. Employee turnover and the cost of hiring and training new employees drive personnel costs even higher. On-the-job training is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve productivity and acquire skills to meet long-term business needs. DavidsonWorks can also pay a precentage depending on company size of training new hires or existing workers. We make participation easy. If you need new employees, we will help you identify potential employees that are ready to be trained for your company or industry. Once this is done, you select and hire the people you want and they will receive on-the-job training in your company. If current employees need skill upgrades or retraining, we will work with you to develop a plan to meet your company’s needs.
