Emergency Medical Services Mission Statement:
Davidson County EMS will provide care and meet the needs of our citizens above providing appropriate, timely and courteous care through a comprehensive and effective system. We will strive to continuously educate our community about prevention and the importance of its EMS System.

Emergency Medical Services
Department Profile:
 Davidson County EMS (DCEMS) provides 24 hour-a-day advanced life support, pre-hospital emergency medical care for a population of over 162,000 in a 582 square mile area. With an annual emergency call volume in excess of 20,000 responses, DCEMS operates a minimum of nine (9) Advanced Life Support Ambulances and one (1) Advanced Life Support Operations Supervisor Quick Response Vehicle each day. 
 Separated into three (3) divisions (Administrations, Operations, and Training), the Department has approximately fifty-seven (57) full-time career employees and forty (40) part-time career employees. In excess of 90% of DCEMS Full-time personnel are cross trained in Rescue, Fire, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Medical Response. The Operations Division employees work a 24/48 hour shift schedule. The Administration employees work an 8 hour schedule.

 Established in 1967, Davidson County EMS was the first County Government funded service in North Carolina and has grown from a small, basic life support provider into a high-volume, EMT-Paramedic Service. DCEMS was awarded Model System Status by the North Carolina Office of EMS in 2002 and was the first EMS Service in the Piedmont Triad to achieve this title.  Davidson County EMS operates from seven (7) different locations within the county and is funded by general tax revenues.
