Sam Watford is the current Chairman of the Davidson County Board of Commissioners.  He is a fourth generation, lifelong resident of Davidson County and has been married to Karen Hege Watford, a retired teacher, for thirty three years. Sam and Karen have two daughters, Jordan Lupton and Morgan Watford and a grandson, Owen Lupton. He is a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he currently serves as chairman of the finance committee and Sunday school director.

Commissioner Watford graduated from East Davidson High School in 1971 and attended Western Carolina University from 1971-1973. Sam received a degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Guilford Technical Institute in 1976. He is the owner and operator of Watford Construction Company, providing underground utility contracting and site preparation. He is also a licensed plumbing contractor, and is a private pilot. Commissioner Watford previously served as the President of the Thomasville Jaycees and is a life member. He is a member and past master of Thomasville Masonic Lodge #214 currently serving as chaplain and is an Oasis Shriner. He also previously served as the President and Secretary of the Chair City Shrine Club.

Commissioner Watford is serving his third consecutive term on the Davidson County Board of Commissioners which will expire in December, 2014.
