 Vice-Chairman Larry Potts was born on September 14, 1948, in Davidson County. He and his wife, Carolyn, reside in the Reeds community. They are members of Psalm 91 Church in Tyro. They have three children, Andrew, Matthew and Charity, and one grand-daughter. Commissioner Potts enjoys horseback riding and mission work. Commissioner Potts attended Davidson County Community College and Spokane Community College. He served in the United States Air Force for four years.
He is the president and owner of Southland Construction Company in Reeds, and is a partner with LARI, Incorporated Development Corporation. He is the president of Davidson Investment Group. Commissioner Potts is a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, the Vietnam Security Police Association, Gideons International, and the Davidson County Home Builders Association.
He serves as Chairman of the Davidson County Board of Social Services, and is a member of the Davidson County Economic Development Commission. Commisioner Potts serves on the Board of Directors for Lexington Memorial Hospital as well as the Business Development Board of New Bridge Bank. He previously served as Vice-President of the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation and previously served as a member of the Davidson County Board of Adjustment. Commissioner Potts is currently serving his fourth non-consecutive term and previously served for eight years as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. His term will expire in December, 2012.
